Our Term with Amamorley Methodist

Updated: Apr 19, 2024

Protect, Educate, Empower! Expressing with Confidence!

On April 4th, we took 66 kids from Amamorley Methodist Basic School on an excursion to Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park. Not only did we visit the park, but we also spent time at the beach and made a stop at Independence Square on our way back. It was the crowning event of a wonderful debut term with the kids. It was an exciting experience for us all; the kids learnt a lot, and they had a lot of fun too. The event was particularly impactful for those experiencing such an outing for the first time.

The excursion, however, was not a standalone event. Through our club (Expression Circle), we've been focusing on teaching the kids English to enhance their reading, writing, and overall expression skills. We've also been engaging them in activities designed to broaden their perspectives and encourage learning.

During our 'Bring and Share' event, the kids were allowed to share their talents and what they were good at with everyone, and during our ‘Career Day, they shared their aspirations with us and discussed how they could turn them into reality.

To spice things up, we introduced a little competition along the way. for them to come up with a slogan for our Expression Circle club, best one wins of course! Out of all the favourites and a few funny ones (I alone did not laugh, I promise), we settled on two riveting slogans! So now, when we say Expression circle, you respond with a resoundingggg! “Protect, Educate, Empower!” and “Expressing with Confidence!”-credit to Anna and Antionette.

Altogether, it was a very fulfilling school term with the kids, and it came with a lot of learning too... Learning, adjusting, planning, crying... no, not crying, I'm just kidding! No tears were shed, just joy, lol. God bless our teachers and parents is all I can say; handling kids is no easy feat.

But we are very thankful to God for the time we had with the kids, we are grateful to all the people who helped us make our activities possible, Mrs. Gertrude, we love you. To our donors and volunteers, we are very grateful. We look forward to the coming term, we hope for it to be even more meaningful.
